FBM Catalog Transition

Most of the catalog was still operating as FBM, which was impacting potential growth. One of the most important first steps was to successfully, profitably, and strategically transition the catalog from FBM to FBA.

Once stocked in Amazon, their goal was to stay in stock 100% of the time and minimize storage costs.

The team was able to quickly identify which SKUs would be most impactful to migrate to FBM using Kapoq’s Performance Analytics Tools. As FBM SKUs grew in volume, they were able to continuously see which test items could “graduate” to FBA. 

♦  Flexible & Customizable Inventory Demand Settings

Using the inventory settings in Kapoq, the team set appropriate demand planning assumptions including lead times, reorder frequency, and safety stock values to properly restock inventory, incorporating growth factors to keep up with expected demand.

♦  Inventory Monitoring

As Amazon’s inbound processing times increased during peak season, Movement Retail utilized Kapoq’s efficient inventory status monitoring to help the team promptly recognize the shift. LTL delivery durations extended from 14 days ship-to-recieve average to 24 days. Consequently, the team adjusted lead times to maintain optimal stock levels consistently.

♦  Inventory Forecasting

The team also used Kapoq’s inventory planning to avoid excess inventory and minimize storage costs by sending inventory in quantities commensurate to expected demand. To date, the account has not incurred a single dollar of long-term storage fees and storage costs average less than 1% of net sales.
